Welcome to Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, offering unforgettable experiences and an acclimatization refuge for Mount Kilimanjaro climbers. Conservation efforts in the area date back to 1907 when it was a cattle ranch. In 1960, the area was designated as Ngurdoto Crater National Park. Following the annexation of Mount Meru, the park was renamed Arusha National Park, covering 322 km².

Climate
Climate of the Serengeti National Park is subtropical, with rain season from November to April and dry season from May to October. The park is located at an altitude between 1,100 and 2,000 meters with annual average rainfall ranging from 900 to 1,000 mm.

Attraction
Despite its small size and some inaccessibility, the park hosts a variety of wildlife. Two Big 5 species—buffalo and elephant—are present, though leopard sightings are rare. Giraffes, zebras, warthogs, hippos, and various antelope species thrive here. Primate sightings, including colobus and blue monkeys, are common. With over 400 bird species, including waterfowl, trogons, and turacos, it’s a great spot for wildlife lovers.

The park is renowned for its thriving population of black and white colobus monkeys, easily spotted in its dense rain forests. These striking primates, with their long, flowing tails, are a highlight for visitors. The park’s rich biodiversity and varied landscapes make it a prime destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Bird Watching
Arusha National Park is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 400 recorded species. The Momella Lakes attract flamingos, herons, and pelicans, while forests and savannahs host turacos, hornbills and eagles, offering incredible birding opportunities in a stunning natural setting.

Little Serengeti
The name “Little Serengeti” refers to the open grassland area in the park, where large numbers of animals, including buffalo, warthogs, zebras, waterbucks, and giraffes, can easily be spotted.

Buffaloes Glade
This open area, a natural glade with marshes, bushes, and streams, attracts animals like buffaloes, warthogs, and giraffes. The buffaloes and warthogs spend their days grazing, resting, and wallowing in the mud holes.
