The best time to visit Tanzania is during the Dry season, from June to October, when wildlife viewing is generally at its best. The wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is usually all year around but its depends with the time of your safari during June to October the migration is on edge of river Crossing in Northern Serengeti and the time to see the wildebeest calving is from January to early April. The southern and western circuit parks are best visited during the Dry season (June to October), unlike the more popular northern circuit parks that can be visited year-round.

From June to October and again in December and January, Tanzania’s peak travel season brings higher prices. The Great Migration heads toward North region in Kogatende, while Tarangire’s elephants gather in large groups. July is perfect for exploring Ruaha and Selous. Lodges book up fast, so early reservations are recommended. Zanzibar offers pleasant weather, while chilly mornings on the mainland call for warm clothing. However, Ndutu follows a different pattern. From January to March, it experiences its high season as the Great Migration arrives for calving season, attracting predators and safari enthusiasts. The rest of the year is considered low season, offering quieter experiences with fewer crowds.

Low Season
April, May and November marks Tanzania’s long rainy season, bringing heavy and unpredictable downpours that can disrupt travel plans and excursions. Many seasonal camps close during this period, though permanent tented camps remain open, offering the lowest rates of the year. While travel isn’t generally advised due to muddy roads and limited accessibility, those willing to embrace the rain may enjoy fewer crowds and lush, green landscapes. However, flexibility is key, as conditions can change rapidly during this wet season.

Northern Circuit
Tanzania’s Northern Circuit is accessible year-round, offering incredible wildlife viewing in parks like Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara. While the dry season (June–October) provides optimal conditions, the green season (November–May) boasts lush landscapes and fewer crowds. Some roads may be muddy during the long rains, but game drives remain possible, especially in permanent lodges and camps.
