The Marangu Route, known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the easiest and only Kilimanjaro trail with hut accommodations. It takes 5–6 days, offering gradual slopes and scenic rain forest views. Despite its relative ease, proper acclimatization is crucial. The trek leads to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5,895m.

DAY 1
Arrive in Tanzania
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet your Green Planet Safaris representative who will transfer you to your Hotel for overnight.
Overnight at Airport Planet lodge & Spa– Meals Dinner and Breakfast.
DAY 2
Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your lodge and transferred to Marangu Gate. After registration, trek through the lush rainforest, spotting eucalyptus trees, birds, and monkeys. Expect muddy trails; trekking poles help. After dinner, your guide briefs you for the next day.

DAY 3
Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut.
Trekking continues through the rainforest past Maundi Crater, transitioning into alpine moorland. Clear weather offers a view of Kibo Peak. Giant lobelias dot the landscape. At Horombo Hut, you’ll settle in and receive a briefing after dinner.

DAY 4
Acclimatization trek to Zebra Rocks.
Today is an essential acclimatization day, boosting summit success. After breakfast, trek to Zebra Rocks (4,010m), named for their black-and-white stripes. Return to Horombo Hut and spend the afternoon relaxing before the next ascent.

DAY 5
Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Trek to Kibo Hut via the easier lower-left route. Upon arrival, have an early dinner, then rest before waking at 11 PM for the summit climb. During dinner, your head guide will brief you on the next day’s ascent.

DAY 6
Summit Day
At midnight, we begin the steep ascent past Hans Meyer Cave (5,220m) to Gillman’s Point (5,681m), where we watch the sunrise. Continuing 1–2 hours, we reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Kibo Hut for breakfast, then Horombo Hut for rest.

DAY 7
Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
On the final day we continue through the rainforest until we reach Marangu Gate, where we complete park formalities and present you with a certificate confirming you summited Mount Kilimanjaro. We are then met by our vehicles and transferred back to your lodge for day use then transferred to the airport.
